Detailed Description

SAP SuccessFactors is replacing the old MIME type standard with the Mozilla/IANA MIME type standard in Document Management. The transition will occur on November 14, 2025, with full deprecation and removal planned for November 2026. All documents currently in the system will remain accessible, and MIME type resolution will automatically use the new Mozilla/IANA standard going forward without requiring configuration or changing how users interact with attachments.

Impact Assessment

This change impacts document handling and file type recognition across SAP SuccessFactors. Existing documents will remain accessible with automatic MIME type conversion, and no configuration is required for the default transition. However, organizations with custom integrations, systems, or workflows that rely on legacy MIME types should review and validate compatibility with the new Mozilla/IANA standard MIME types before November 2026.

Test Recommendations
• Review integrations, systems, and workflows that use legacy MIME types (such as application/msword for DOC files) • Ensure compatibility with new Mozilla/IANA standard MIME types (such as application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document for DOCX) • Validate that existing documents remain accessible after the transition • Test file upload behavior to confirm automatic MIME type resolution and conversion • Verify that permitted file types remain unchanged and function as expected
